Out of more than 80 applications, Bamomas has been selected as one of the seventeen startups to pitch at DB Mindbox Future of Operations & Maintenance 2023 selection day, taking place on January 19th in Frankfurt Germany.
DB Mindbox is Deutsche Bahn's initiative for startups, where they collaborate with DB employees on innovations for DB's core rail business, in particular innovations based on digital technologies. The program gives comprehensive support to young entrepreneurs who have a specific idea of how to make improvements that will benefit DB customers. The entrepreneurs work with DB business units to quickly develop prototypes to make train travel more appealing for the long term.
Future of Operations & Maintenance (FOM) is one of DB Mindox programs being organized together with partners as DB Netz and DB Station & Service. This 100 day signature program gives startups the chance to customize and live-test their solution to real challenges that DB is facing.
Bamomas will be presenting their idea under the Remote Battery Diagnostics use case. Wet batteries are used in both relay and electronic interlockings and serve as a transitional buffer until the emergency diesel unit starts to operate. The acid level and density as well as the total voltage of the batteries must be checked regularly in tight inspection intervals. Deutsche Bahn aims to make the process more efficient through remote inspection. The functionality and safety of infrastructure is of utmost importance, that is why they are searching for innovative ideas to improve its reliability and prevent critical failures.
